Many of you will know how these systems work but to those of you who are not sure they simply push seawater at high pressure through a special membrane.Only fresh water gets through the membrane and this is pumped to a fresh water tank for human consumption.The salt and other impurities that do not pass through are simply back washed and returned to the sea.
