We’re thrilled to welcome Ben Naylor to the Global crew. After spending 9 years on yachts, Ben joins us with bags of experience and thorough knowledge of life on a yacht. Whilst working his way up from Deckhand to Chief Mate, Ben travelled the world from the most southerly point of New Zealand to the icy waters of the Northwest Passage. One of Ben’s favourite times at sea was navigating the ice-covered seas of the Northwest passage, with Russia on the port side, Alaska on the starboard, and the Northern Lights glowing in the sky.
Over the past 9 years, Bens worked on some seriously impressive projects and yachts. He was part of the team that brought the 102m Feadship, MY Symphony, out of build and into operation. Symphony was Royal Van Lents first Passenger Yacht Code vessel which Ben reflects on with fond memories. He was also crew on 126m MY Octopus for numerous years where he was involved in the vessels refit and day to day operations.
“Having been in the industry for almost a decade, I’m very excited to join the team as part of Global’s New Build service. I’ll be visiting project teams on site all over the world and gaining more understanding of a New Build’s needs, whilst assisting the project team with our range of key services. I love the company promise of always making life simple for our customers, and having been a crew member for years I know just how valuable that is."
Head of Sales, Matt Redstone, comments:
"I promise we hired Ben for his knowledge and not his amazing skills on a BBQ, although I am sure his BBQ talent will come in use when we can have the next Global social! Ben’s time on boats allows him to connect with and understand what our customers truly need and how we can support them. He is an addition to the project team, just not in the shipyard all the time. I’m excited for Ben’s future at Global and for how he is going to help us, and you."
Outside of work, Ben's family comes first. He loves spending time with his wife and son. After his family, his main love is his live-fire BBQ. His biggest success on the BBQ came on Christmas day when he started cooking a 3KG, 2-bone rib of beef at 8 o’clock in the morning. Loads better than turkey!
